Fellow gladiators, today I want to share 3 differentiators if harnessed could produce you a sublime life that’s abundantly fulfilling along with leaving lasting legacy. No, its got nothing to do with your make up, shake up or wake up…Its all to do about you Gladiator, your attitude, your service and your commitment to excellence.
ATTITUDE:
While you can’t always control what happens to you, you certainly can manage your attitude and your response to whatever has happened. You alone determine what you think and do to counter your situation in favour of your desired outcome.
“Your attitude will determine you altitude” we have all heard. A “So-So attitude” will yield…“So-So results”. A “Good attitude” will yield “Good Results”, but and “Excellent attitude” will yield “Excellent results”. The world (your results) mirrors your attitude. The world is not cruel, its neutral. We can all change our attitudes to believe good things can happen to us, that we are lucky, that we are blessed…what we expect from life we achieve, all day long. The opposite is also true. “Whether you think you Can or you cant, you are right” said Henry Ford. Remember, “your attitude determines your altitude”. Winners have a winning attitude, losers a losing attitude. You decide…
Remember that what you project, you attract. Gratitude increases positive attraction. Gratitude of wisdom, love, health, wealth, opportunity etc. all increases manifestation of these in your life. Don’t complain ever, just do what you need to do and do it well. People with the right attitude radiate energy and beauty and the wold projects it back to them. You can tell what you are projecting by evaluating what you are getting back from life.
Don’t let mental apathy eat away at your life. Conquer your mind. “Fill your cup” with people (mentors, associates, uplifting friends and family), books that inspire and motivate. Fill the spirit until the cup is full. Take pride in everything you do, big or small. Be grateful for your current opportunity, it will pave the road for new opportunities. There is meaning in taking great pride in whatever you do. It brings meaning to your life to put purpose before title, profit or status.
SERVICE:
The road to success is paved with opportunities galore. You don’t need to invent anything. You just have to add ever increasing value through service. Burgers and fries are at least a 100 year old if not older. You can buy them at almost any restaurant or take away. Yet 2 to 3 vendors stole the opportunity in providing you with a priceless service; convenience and price. Mc Donald’s service of convenience and price separated themselves from all other food vendors, taking them from a small player with a few stores in America, to more than 21 000 stores in over 100 countries. They increased the value in their service to the whole world by making fast, efficient, low cost food to meet the ever increasing demands of time and money. Remember to create and add value wherever you are.
The people who serve the greatest number of people celebrate the biggest and best results. Ask your cellular service provider just how many customers they serve and equate it with their latest financial statements. Ask your medical aid, the local gold mines, your local private hospitals etc. Ask yourself why the icons of the world became icons? Because they are the epitome of service sometimes creating products and services we never expected to become dependent on such as electricity, mobile phones, computers to mention a few. Increase your rate of service and your success will be proportionate.
EXCELLENCE:
Excellence is all we all should strive for…be the very best you can be at whatever your occupation. When you see your work as mastery, yourself as the master and your customers (business, family and friends) as the only reason for your existence, excellence becomes habit, rather than an act. An honest days work is far superior to a lazy day of useless squandering of life. Without excellence our relevance is questionable.
Commit yourself to excellence. Don’t just do…do with mustering your heart, mind, intelligence and wisdom. It will out class you from the following pack. It’s a commitment to an ever increasing standard of excellence. You can get better and better incrementally. Just like the 100m sprint. The record holders went from 10.83 seconds by Ben Johnson (1987) to 9.78 seconds by Tim Montgomery (2002) and down to 9.58 seconds by Usain Bolt in 2009. In our lifetimes I’m sure we will see it breach 9.5 seconds…In parting I wish to remind you that your personal excellence has no limits other than those you set for yourself. Remember to be a Gladiator for life
