MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: Are You Your Own Enemy?

Let’s talk truth…governments around the world are weak, economists forecasts for the world’s economy is bleak, employment numbers are up and many are cowering in fear, surrendering to the status quo, adopting the excuses of the media and the masses.MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN by Vinesh Maharaj

Now let me flip the coin on you…governments are still collecting billions in taxes, economies (personal and business) are growing, companies are minting dollars and many are taking advantage and are rising above the dictates of mass hysteria and media gloom.

The old adage; “is the glass half full or half empty”.  Yes it’s all perspective.  How do you see it?  Is it a problem or do you see the opportunity?  You can hide behind excuses or you can rise to action.  Even in the world’s most depressed economies there are new millionaire and billionaire debutants.  How do you explain that?  Well, simply it means those people are dictating their own reality.  The refuse to subscribe to the opinions of others, for factually is the glass half empty or half full is really just an opinion, reflecting your reality.

You must ask, are you your own enemy, holding yourself back on the accounts of others…forcing their reality upon you?  Reality is a choice.  Winners are creating their own reality perpetually.  They see the way around, through, over and under the “problem”, for they see them as opportunities.  They are willing to do what others are not willing to do, because everyone else only sees the pain.  Winners only see the gain which they are willing to pay for with effort.

The next time you choose your reality ask yourself?  Am I a victim of my own reality?  Or am I championing my cause, from the front, creating a reality that serves my success?  Are you getting down and dirty where others want to keep their hands clean?  By making more calls, investing in your networks, growing your skills and pushing harder while others are retreating, you are are sure to dominate the future.  If you fall asleep at the wheel, surely you can’t win the race.  So wake up and get committed, creating a reality that sees you and your team mount the summit of success.

Stop being your own enemy.  Commit to never becoming a victim of your own dogma.  Rather champion your reality and make it happen.

MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: NEW YEAR, SAME OLD YOU?

BecomingSo most, if not all of us are back to work, back to life and its challenges. Many have made New Years resolutions and set new goals to live life fulfilled and inspired, having committed to pursuing various objectives such as weight loss, get out of debt projects, wealth creation, business success goals etc.

While it may be a New Year, if you are the same old you, you are sure to create the same old results. Now this is not rocket science. This is fact. Old habits of thinking, perception, beliefs and reality will keep you trapped exactly where you are, exactly where you have been. To break the mould you have to challenge yourself to adopt a new reality by changing limiting beliefs, converting them into possibility thinking. You have to create perceptions which serve your outcomes. You must choose thinking whats possible versus whats impossible. Remember “when you focus on your problems you get more…problems. When you focus on your possibilities you get more…opportunities”. Everything starts and ends with YOU. You hold the key to your future and your future starts in your thought.

To create new results we have to become the new person who has the attributes, character and habits of thinking to attract the circumstances and opportunities while also holding the skills and knowledge to execute new ideas and actions required for new results. In psychology there is a branch call “The psychology of becoming”. The study of the art of becoming a new person who subscribes to new possibilities, new perceptions and new realities.

HERE ARE 7 HABITS TO MASTER YOUR BECOMING:

  1. COMMIT – To becoming all that you can be. Be specific when you write it among your topmost goals for this year. Review that goal daily and act like a coach…keep changing strategy until you strike gold.
  2. ASSOCIATE YOUR MIND WITH YOUR OUTCOMES – Think, talk and act like the vision you hold in your mind of that person who has the qualities, skills and results you wish to acquire. Read about your hero’s and guru’s to inspire your success.
  3. BE MASSIVELY CONSISTENT – Don’t go back and forth between the old and new you. Be consistent and consistent results will follow.
  4. PIT STOP – Stop regularly to gauge your progress. Measure and manage.
  5. ASK FOR HELP – The wheel has already been developed. Don’t waste valuable time re-inventing it. Seek the best help (coach, mentors and advisers) who can keep you “becoming” all that you can be. Stretching your potential.
  6. KEEP THE FAITH – So what if you don’t hit a home run on the first ball? Just keep swinging the bat. Remember in the game of life, you are the referee and umpire and only YOU can call you out. As long as you keep swinging, you’re still in the game. So keep the faith.
  7. MASTER YOUR CRAFT – Do whatever it takes to master your becoming. Keep polishing and shining until your shine brighter than the sun. As you become more, you will do more, attract more and live more fulfilled.

Keep smiling, keep shining…

MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: Do YOU really want it?

What if I said, its yours, all yours.  Yours for the taking.  All you have to do is pay the price.  That is, the price of success paid upfront and in full.  Would you still want it?

Most people talk smart.  More people even look smart but when it comes to the heart of the matter, the smokes and mirrors soon become apparent.  Talk is cheap.

Success in any field can be achieved by anyone if YOU really want it.  It just takes the following from you:

MAKE A COMMITMENT

Do you know how few people actually commit to their goal achievement or success?  Hardly but a few.  Most people are far too busy going from smokescreen to smokescreen chasing an illusory dream that keeps changing.  Its like flashing through the TV channels and wanting everything you see, today, tomorrow and everyday.  People want everything and also want nothing because they have not committed to any particular goal to pursue.  Thus they really want nothing.  Like a kid in a candy store.  “All the sweets and chocolates look yummy, I cant decide” syndrome.  Those who decide, increase the likelihood of success 10 fold.  Whether in your health, wealth, career, or relationship, take a decision, make a commitment.

COMMIT TO PAYING THE PRICE

Pay the price daily.  Every step in the direction of Rome must eventually get you there.  Pay the price and stick with it.  Don’t change destinations.  Stay true to your course.  Understand that an undergraduate/post graduate degree takes 3/4/5/7 years, abs take 3 months, a sale can take 1 minute or one year depending on the product you are selling.  You pay the price daily by studying, working out and pursuing your customer relentlessly for should you stop, someone else will.  Sweat out your goals.  Work for them.  Pay upfront and in full, then you can enjoy the fruits of your labour.

DONT QUIT

Stick with your goals.  So what if you fall from time to time?  Get back up.  Did you stop learning to walk as a toddler because you fell a couple of times?  Of course not.  When days are dark and the walls are closing in, dig in your heels and find that resilience to go another mile.  When nay sayers and dooms day-ers are grilling you, taunting you or ridiculing you, don’t quit.  The shame of quitting will haunt you into old age. What if…, I would have…, I could have and I should have become your old age companions.  Peeking out of their lonely crevices in your darkest hours beating up your conscience.

Start by taking these 3 simple steps and begin to write your names among the stars.  Rather die trying than failing to try.  Don’t let the voice of regret echo in you mind as you reach the finish line of your life.  Don’t die a man or woman who took the music to the grave with them.  Don’t live in your shadows when you can live in your glory.

Rather live with passion, purpose and conviction.  Chase your goals.  Make beautiful memories for even the scars incurred during your pursuit of success make wonderful war stories.

In conclusion I ask you:  ”Do YOU really want it?”

Essential Sales Success Habits

Aside

Lets accept the fact that we are all in sales.  However, if you earn your living, from selling any products or services, then your Sales mastery should be your primary responsibility.  Mastery in this area will ensure your upward mobility in earnings which will translate into quality living for you and your family.

Today I want to share with you 5 Essential Sales Success Habits:

1.  Sales Time Management

Time,  the most precious commodity of our lives is limited.  With just 86 400 seconds in a day, spending them wisely is critical.  Non productive time spent on NO return acts within your business will steal from you and your family, earning potential.  So guard your time well.  Spend it on building your salesmanship, your knowledge, networks, client relationships and face to face time with your prospects.

2.  Sales Professional Associations

The professional sales people are always hanging out with other winners.  By association, they keep their standards high, the quality of conversations are inspiring and beneficial.  Like a wise man once said:  “when you touch the honey jar, something has to stick” referring to that transference from the bottle to your fingers.

3.  Become obsessed with following up

The best of sales people, follow everything up.  Be it a phone call, a discussion, an email, an appointment.  They get that their valued clients have a thousand other things to do but call on them.  They remove that stress for their client and follow up consistently.

4.  Innovation connoisseurs

If you are not innovative in a changing market with many moving variables you may find yourself becoming obsolete.  Keep finding newer, smarter ways to engage your clients.  The principles of selling may be timeless but the conditions are always changing.  Adapt or die.

5.  Commit to succeed

Success is a daily activity.  Sales people know this too well.  Yesterday is history.  Commitment translates into working our craft until new history is written.  Those persistent about their success, thrive and go on to break records.

“The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.” – Vince Lombardi said so aptly.

MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: The Art of Commitment

If success at anything were easy street, the world would be flooded with successful people.  Regrettably it is not.  One of the core ingredients to succeeding at anything is COMMITMENT; massive, massive…commitment.

Commitment is defined as a the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.” It is also considered to be a promise, a contract, obligation or duty to fulfill.

In your endeavors at your craft and in every facet of life; commitment is the carbon fibre of your success. Stay with it and succeed. Its about taking the road less travelled to deliver exceptional value whatever you do.  There is an unspoken honor towards people who keep and people who exceed their commitments.

Commitment to anyone else but yourself, first is misleading.  Your first commitment is to yourself.   Commit to expect nothing less than your best.  Commit yourself to world class standards and ideals and when your clients, friends and family whisper your name…let your commitment echo synonymously with your name.

The greatest hero’s and heroines of our times have shown huge commitment.  From Mother Theresa to Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and Nelson Mandela to name a few.  In the “Long Walk to Freedom”; the late great, Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, he time and time again lives up to his commitment to his cause.  When Henry Ford was met with failure after failure in the pursuit of the elusive V8 engine did he resolve to give up his commitment? Thomas Edison was derided as a mad man he stayed committed to his cause and gifted the world electrical light.  When Mother Theresa stood up to be counted against the odds, she stood tall.  How do you stand in the light of your cause?

Here are 5 Key skills to master your commitment:

  1. Decide to be world class and stand tall at everything you do.
  2. Raise the bar: Go above and beyond the call of duty to succeed.
  3. Perform with heart…every time, all the time
  4. Be relentless at taking massive consistent action.
  5. Dont quit…you WILL succeed

In closing I want you to take the following with you today.  Let this be your meditation as you go about your business:

“Unless a man believes in himself and makes a total commitment to his career and puts everything he has into it – his mind, his body, his heart – what’s life worth to him?” – Vince Lombardy.  Go on, show great conviction through your unending inspired commitment to your success.
