MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: Are You Your Own Enemy?

Let’s talk truth…governments around the world are weak, economists forecasts for the world’s economy is bleak, employment numbers are up and many are cowering in fear, surrendering to the status quo, adopting the excuses of the media and the masses.MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN by Vinesh Maharaj

Now let me flip the coin on you…governments are still collecting billions in taxes, economies (personal and business) are growing, companies are minting dollars and many are taking advantage and are rising above the dictates of mass hysteria and media gloom.

The old adage; “is the glass half full or half empty”.  Yes it’s all perspective.  How do you see it?  Is it a problem or do you see the opportunity?  You can hide behind excuses or you can rise to action.  Even in the world’s most depressed economies there are new millionaire and billionaire debutants.  How do you explain that?  Well, simply it means those people are dictating their own reality.  The refuse to subscribe to the opinions of others, for factually is the glass half empty or half full is really just an opinion, reflecting your reality.

You must ask, are you your own enemy, holding yourself back on the accounts of others…forcing their reality upon you?  Reality is a choice.  Winners are creating their own reality perpetually.  They see the way around, through, over and under the “problem”, for they see them as opportunities.  They are willing to do what others are not willing to do, because everyone else only sees the pain.  Winners only see the gain which they are willing to pay for with effort.

The next time you choose your reality ask yourself?  Am I a victim of my own reality?  Or am I championing my cause, from the front, creating a reality that serves my success?  Are you getting down and dirty where others want to keep their hands clean?  By making more calls, investing in your networks, growing your skills and pushing harder while others are retreating, you are are sure to dominate the future.  If you fall asleep at the wheel, surely you can’t win the race.  So wake up and get committed, creating a reality that sees you and your team mount the summit of success.

Stop being your own enemy.  Commit to never becoming a victim of your own dogma.  Rather champion your reality and make it happen.

MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: Unleash Your Productivity

Unleash Your ProductivityThe clocks ticking, the count down has begun and is happening with or without your consent.

It’s the second quarter of the year 2015. You may still have a long way to go with your list of goals, targets and objectives to make 2015 your best year yet.

We all have so much to do and the common complaint is a lack of time. The truth is we all have the same 24 hours a day, but we all don’t use it like the super productive. The super men and women who rise at 4.30am, gym, spin shower, prepare and have breakfast, get lunch ready, pack bags, drop kids at school, get to work, run through meetings, reply to emails, return calls, chase results and continue all the way through home, homework, dinner, family time, back to emails and even conference calls to other time zones before retiring to bed at 11pm..

How is it that they get so much more done than the rest of us. Let me share with you how to unleash your productivity:

  1. Know your outcomes – Without knowing what you need to achieve, how can you achieve anything? Know what your outcomes are. Ask yourself : “How much of what, by when”…If you don’t know…ask…Ask your manager, your partner, your supervisor, your parents, teachers…Ask, is the skill…
  2. Plan like Moses – When Moses went in search of the promised land, they had to plan for every eventuality. They didn’t decide today, to leave today. You too have to plan the minutes, hours, days and weeks really well, even allowing for infringements like traffic, others running late, power/data failures etc. See the big picture when planning. Most planners only plan for themselves without seeing the pitfalls of circumstances beyond their control.
  3. Cut time wasting activities – Don’t lounge around, spending countless useless hours by the TV, useless chit chat at the coffee vending machine, cut unproductive time spent surfing the web, doing everything but getting nothing done. Cut out the time wasting people who hold you back from great results. People who play small, dream small and live small. Learn from other masters, the art of massive productivity for a life well lived.
  4. Keep lists – The elite producers among us keep “To Do Lists”. They list activities in sequence of priority, separating whats urgent from whats important. Benjamin Franklin said “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail”
  5. Do The WorkStephen King said “Amateurs sit and wait for inspiration, the rest of us just get up and go to work”. What are you waiting for? The time is now. Do work…nay, do great work. “Let the hosts of heaven and earth pause to say…here lived a great street sweeper” said Martin Luther King.
  6. Use Non Distracted Mode of Results Achievement – Winners hold calls, email, sms’s and social media messaging by blocking time in their calendars to execute their well crafted plans. During this block of time, they know how many activities need to be completed and don’t stop for tea/coffee/lunch breaks and are not distracted by meaningless office chatter. They steam through their task list knowing time is invaluable, like air, water…food…it’s the stuff that life is made from.
  7. Fixed laser like focus – Laser like focus comes from concentrating our energies, thoughts, intelligence and wisdom on getting the desired outcomes. Summon your mind, your heart, your physical and emotional energy to solve the productivity matters on hand. Alexander Graham Bell said “Concentrate all your thoughts on the work on hand. The suns rays do not burn until brought into focus”
  8. The winners code – The elite achievers among us live by a code “Do todays work today”. That leaves tomorrows list un-encroached, leaving you to stay focused on the present challenges. Should you carry over activities, the list grows endlessly. Winners never quit, and quitters never win.

Wherever you find yourself, regardless of your conditions, tools or support here are some parting words of wisdom by Napoleon Hill, author of “Think and Grow Rich” which you can live by “Create a definite plan for carrying out your desire and begin at once, whether you are ready or not, to put this plan into action”. Improve your outputs, get better, faster, more efficient and ask for more opportunities to showcase your skills and talents. As you get better you will fill your life with massive productive results wherein you will fill the trophies of success….more time for those important things in our lives, family, friends, spirit, health, wealth etc…

Go on and unleash your productivity and leave an indelible impression on the people you serve and become indispensable.

MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: The Time Of Your Life

We all agree, life is short. Wether you live till 30, 50 or 80 years old… time flies, life is short and the clock is counting down for each of us.

Clock Countdown“Don’t be fooled by the calendar. There are only as many days in the year as you make use of. One man gets only a week’s value out of a year while another man gets a full year’s value out of a week.” said Charles Richards.

Time is your most valuable resource. Make it count. Most people are switched off in a “living-dead” mode. They are unconscious of their unconsciousness. They may go through the motions but lack any vision, purpose or mission. Ask them why they work, tolerate the traffic or a below average income etc. and you will get some pretty interesting answers…

Life can consume your time without you having ever lived and without any productive results to show for it. Why spoil this wonderful opportunity? Rather you can make a substantial contribution to your legacy, your family, your company, your country by living your life, by using your time well and by acting purposefully at all levels.

Here are 7 powerful ideas to ensure you are living The Time Of Your Life:

  1. Plan your time and activities – Not in a “check box” manner but for purposeful results achievement. Start by listing your goal accomplishment within a time frame.
  2. Prioritize your time – focus on the highest priority tasks first. Choose the top 3 and stick with them until complete then go down you list, one task at a time.
  3. Don’t get distracted – Sure your phone will be notifying you about BBM/Messenger/Whatsapp messages, your emails will keep on coming in. Don’t react to them. Stay focused on the task at hand. You can respond later when you have met your objectives.
  4. Set objectives for every action/task – Set “sales calls” targets, “km’s run” targets, “weight goal” targets, “family time” targets, “queries responded to” targets etc. If you can measure your performance truthfully you will see how much we squander time and how little time we actually use for goal achievement.
  5. Go for the jugular – At whatever you do, make sure you hit bulls eye until it becomes your new standard. Put your time and effort into creating results you can be proud of. Don’t go through the motions alone.
  6. Limit your coffee/water cooler breaks – Time thieves lurk nearby and will hijack you on their time squandering projects. They get you trapped and talking without any focus on time wastage…all in the name of work, gym, socializing etc. Before you know it, 30 minutes of your life was wasted talking about the weekend, sport, politics and other office minutiae. I’m not saying don’t socialize. I am saying use your social time for socializing. Get results first and socialize later.
  7. “I’m rather busy right now, can we chat after 5pm”? – When you say this to the time thieves in your office you will be amazed that they wont be around one second after 5pm. They only become clock watchers when it comes to “their” time, and neither will they waste “their” time for you. Use this phrase “I’m rather busy right now, can we chat after 5pm” and save hours of your life everyday . You will become a goal focused, super sonic, super achiever of note.

By implementing these ideas you will become highly productive and will get much more done than the average Joe. You will put yourself in the line of more opportunity. New projects, more sales, more responsibility, more money will be attracted to you by virtue of your ability to deliver time and time again. Pun intended.

“The key is in not spending time, but in investing it” said Stephen R. Covey. So in the interest of time I ask that you get cracking…

MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: 10 Time Management Tips from The Uber Successful

Did you know that there are only 86 400 seconds in a day?  This means nothing unless you use them wisely.

Niccolo Machiavelli Time

Your most valuable commodity is your time.  How you manage, use or abuse time will either serve your success or hamper it.  Waste your time and you waste your life, for that’s what life is made of…time.

The greatest achievers across all disciplines were exceptional time managers.  The current super achievers among us are living testimony of effective time management.  Their objective is always how to maximize time; getting the best results in the shortest amount of time.

Today I want to share with you the Donald Trump Time Management System:

1.     Get Organized – Take time to organize yourself.  Clear your desk.  Clutter in your office, clutters the mind.  Organize your information for easy access.  Prepare for a new you.

2.     Start Early – As an early riser you steal light hours from life.  Getting more done before your competitors awake will set you up for an industrious lifetime of success.

Napoleon Bonaparte Time3.     Plan Your Planner – Schedule in your tasks, meetings and success activities like networking, creative planning, emails, gym, walking, reading etc.

4.     Manage Your Meetings – Don’t schedule one hour for one outcome.  Have micro meetings of 15 minutes where possible with an agenda sent out to all attendees.  Where not possible do not exceed a 30 minute meeting.  Scope creepers and whiners will steal your valuable time.  Get your outcome and get out.

5.     Prioritize – List your targets in sequence or in importance.  To bake a cake it may be sequential but to strike a business agreement or contract it may be in list of  importance thus jumping the sequence que.

6.     Deadlines – These are at the heart of your goals.  The time within which to achieve.  Ensure you are meeting them and better still exceeding them.

7.     Bite Size Chunks – Don’t try to build Rome in a day.  You will fail and feel unaccomplished.  Rather break down large tasks into small bite size chunks.  One bite at a time takes you closer to goal achievement.

8.     Manage Your Emails – Schedule time for email management.  During this time reply to all emails.  Reply immediately and clean up your mailbox.  A sense of achievement is ever present when you are up to date.  A clogged up mailbox will leave you feeling time strapped and under pressure.Nelson Mandela Time

9.     Take A Break – Make time for a regular healthy distraction.  Stop for a water break, sip your favourite tea or coffee, have a power lunch or meet someone inspirational for a quick friendly, catch up.  This small but necessary break will serve as a mini recharge.  Go back fired up!

10.     Plan Tomorrow Today – Schedule tomorrow’s success activities today.  Don’t wait and see…Take action and control your time and your outcomes.

I leave you with this beautifully, well crafted quote:  “Yesterday’s history, the future is a mystery, but today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present”.  Use your time well on the road to achievement or squander it on the path to nowhere.

At the upcoming VINESH MAHARAJ – PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL MASTERY PROGRAM – 2014 we unpack ALL the strategies for your personal and professional success and achievement. MONDAY MENTAL PROTEIN: 10 Most Powerful Success Secrets to make you unstoppable in 2014

Vinesh-Maharaj-10-Success-Secrets

At my seminars and talks I’m often asked, “What’s the secret to success?”  This prompted me to share the following 10 Most Powerful Success Secrets which you can apply daily for the next 30 days and onward making them part of your success DNA.

Regardless of what you wish to master, make them your daily meditation.  Apply these principles until they become habit, seeking ways of application relevant to your situation, career or business.  I assure you that you will produce tangible results in the next few weeks and months ahead.

1.  SLEEP IS OVERRATED

Most people sleep in excess of 8 hours daily.  Sadly this is a massive waste of precious time.  “Time is money”.  So unless you are earning in your sleep, you had better rise and shine.  Less sleep translates into more time to pursue your goals.  All champions are early risers.  Most wake before 5am daily, 7 days a week, some sleeping just 4 to 6 hours a night.

2.  YOU TIME

“You time” refers to the time you spend investing in yourself.  Its the time immediately after waking up.  Its about spending at least an hour a day in study in your field, solitude and silence or in prayer and meditation.  Read something inspirational, motivational or educational.  This is best just before sunrise because your phone wont be ringing, the TV will be off and your family will probably be asleep.  You can get focused without distractions and make massive progress while your competitors sleep.

3.  TIME MANAGEMENT

Elite performers are pedantic about their time.  They “spend” it wisely.  All their activities are geared towards their primary goal.  Every meeting or call is highly focused on the outcomes they are in pursuit of.  They do not entertain distractions whatsoever.  Their time is spent in line with their objectives.  They work their time and don’t time their work.

4.  EAT LIKE A CHAMPION

I’ve not met any super achievers whose diets only comprise of hamburgers, fries, pizza and chocolate milkshakes yet.  Have you?  Champions, eat like champions.  They see food as fuel.  They consume energizing foods and drink lots of water to keep hydrated and functioning at world class levels.  They also top up on first class multivitamins, health smoothies and green tea through the day to keep them going on and on and on…change your eating by being regular and conscious.  Goodness in, greatness out.

5.  WORK OUT FOR THE OLYMPICS OF YOUR LIFE

Most elite performers are as committed to their physical health as to their business.  Whether they run, cycle or swim, play in individual sports or group sports they get that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.  When you are in peak physical condition you have a gait in your step, an assured confidence and the mindset acquired in the gym, on the track or field.  This mindset includes; discipline, hard work, no pain, no gain thinking etc.  They know that in the olympics of life, only the “fittest” shall survive.

6.  PLAN WELL

Successful people plan really well.  They don’t only fixate on the best case scenario (Plan A).  They have Plans B, C, D, E and F.  They understand that there are always circumstances outside of their control like foreign exchange.  A small margin in either direction could result in millions of dollars lost.  Factors like the weather can ruin a business.  A tornado storm may keep customers at home and not shopping.  This means lots of lost revenue.  Other factors like competitors launching  before you etc.  There are so many scenarios to consider.  How do the beat these?  They plan for almost every eventuality.

7.  BECOME ACTION ORIENTED

Results come from action.  Winners are not wishers.  They take daily, consistent actions to drive home their goals.  Too many people who want success, fail themselves by not taking  consistent actions.  They think that thought alone will lead to manifestation.  Whether you are trying to lose weight, sell more, save more etc.  it all comes together when your actions are congruent with your plans.

8.  KEEP SCORE

In every sport, in business, at a TV or radio station, they keep score to measure their success.  Keeping score of progress toward your goal, will give you real time feedback about what changes you need to make.  Measurement is management, so keep measuring.

9.  STAY INSPIRED

Rome was not built in day.  Neither was any of the hip brands we associate with daily.  Don’t become despondent because you are not seeing immediate progress.  Sometimes we have to appreciate the stage we are at.  Some seeds take 3 weeks to produce fruit (tomato’s) and others take years, like apple trees.  So how to stay inspired?  Listen within, take advice from your mentors and coaches.  Focus on your success and not your challenges.  Read of the challenges and successes of others who have overcome them and take inspiration from them to succeed.

10.  WINNERS NEVER QUIT

No matter how difficult the task on hand, “winners never quit and quitters never win”.  The power of intelligent persistence has proven to be invaluable in the pursuit of success.  Those who quit, leave with the bitter taste of failure in their mouths, while those who persist savor the sweet taste of success.  The choice is always yours.

Start applying these 10 Success Secrets to your goals and become unstoppable in 2014 at whatever your goals are.  The perfection of these 10 will unleash the super hero in you.  Go on, its your time.  Let it shine.

I’m your coach and partner in success.

Essential Sales Success Habits

Aside

Lets accept the fact that we are all in sales.  However, if you earn your living, from selling any products or services, then your Sales mastery should be your primary responsibility.  Mastery in this area will ensure your upward mobility in earnings which will translate into quality living for you and your family.

Today I want to share with you 5 Essential Sales Success Habits:

1.  Sales Time Management

Time,  the most precious commodity of our lives is limited.  With just 86 400 seconds in a day, spending them wisely is critical.  Non productive time spent on NO return acts within your business will steal from you and your family, earning potential.  So guard your time well.  Spend it on building your salesmanship, your knowledge, networks, client relationships and face to face time with your prospects.

2.  Sales Professional Associations

The professional sales people are always hanging out with other winners.  By association, they keep their standards high, the quality of conversations are inspiring and beneficial.  Like a wise man once said:  “when you touch the honey jar, something has to stick” referring to that transference from the bottle to your fingers.

3.  Become obsessed with following up

The best of sales people, follow everything up.  Be it a phone call, a discussion, an email, an appointment.  They get that their valued clients have a thousand other things to do but call on them.  They remove that stress for their client and follow up consistently.

4.  Innovation connoisseurs

If you are not innovative in a changing market with many moving variables you may find yourself becoming obsolete.  Keep finding newer, smarter ways to engage your clients.  The principles of selling may be timeless but the conditions are always changing.  Adapt or die.

5.  Commit to succeed

Success is a daily activity.  Sales people know this too well.  Yesterday is history.  Commitment translates into working our craft until new history is written.  Those persistent about their success, thrive and go on to break records.

“The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.” – Vince Lombardi said so aptly.
