Now let me flip the coin on you…governments are still collecting billions in taxes, economies (personal and business) are growing, companies are minting dollars and many are taking advantage and are rising above the dictates of mass hysteria and media gloom.

The old adage; “is the glass half full or half empty”.  Yes it’s all perspective.  How do you see it?  Is it a problem or do you see the opportunity?  You can hide behind excuses or you can rise to action.  Even in the world’s most depressed economies there are new millionaire and billionaire debutants.  How do you explain that?  Well, simply it means those people are dictating their own reality.  The refuse to subscribe to the opinions of others, for factually is the glass half empty or half full is really just an opinion, reflecting your reality.

You must ask, are you your own enemy, holding yourself back on the accounts of others…forcing their reality upon you?  Reality is a choice.  Winners are creating their own reality perpetually.  They see the way around, through, over and under the “problem”, for they see them as opportunities.  They are willing to do what others are not willing to do, because everyone else only sees the pain.  Winners only see the gain which they are willing to pay for with effort.

The next time you choose your reality ask yourself?  Am I a victim of my own reality?  Or am I championing my cause, from the front, creating a reality that serves my success?  Are you getting down and dirty where others want to keep their hands clean?  By making more calls, investing in your networks, growing your skills and pushing harder while others are retreating, you are are sure to dominate the future.  If you fall asleep at the wheel, surely you can’t win the race.  So wake up and get committed, creating a reality that sees you and your team mount the summit of success.

Stop being your own enemy.  Commit to never becoming a victim of your own dogma.  Rather champion your reality and make it happen.

The first month of the year is history. Many were happy to see the back of 2015 and are excited about a new year with new prospects and possibilities. Many celebrated success and achievement in 2015 meeting their goals and objectives; yet so many languish in middle class suburban mediocrity…the ever-miserable average.be-awesome

What is average? Average means neither here, nor there. It means run of the mill. It means somewhere in the middle…neither here nor there. Average at school or university means, you’re not first, nor are you last, somewhere in the middle…again. In earnings it means you aren’t rich, nor are you poor. In age, it means you aren’t old, or young. Like a no mans land. It’s like sitting at a border post between countries. It’s like splitting your vote at elections 50% left and 50% right. Does average, start feeling and tasting distasteful to you? It’s undefined, limiting and frustrating.

If not, just imagine catching the latest average movie, written, produced and directed by the most average. Where after, you catch an average dinner, at an average restaurant prepared by an average chef. The drinks were average, as were the starters and don’t hold your breath…with your average date. How do you expect the night to end? Boombastic, fireworks, mind-blowing tantric yoga?

If you want 2016 to be “The Year”, much has to change. First and fore-mostly your commitment to burning “average, nice, okay and acceptable”. These are the new “fats, sugar, salt and gluten” that you need to eradicate from your thought and speak. Go on a mental health diet that rejects these from your mind, your standards and expectations. As soon as you perceive them, know its time to change, change something. As American motivational speaker and author Zig Ziglar used to say be “Better than Good”. It’s time to embrace a new reality where you, are the star of your show. Where the lights are brighter, your sound track is crystal clear, where the colours pop and words spoken are songs, where the walking is dancing and there is energy and passion in all that you do. No matter how you feel, regardless of the weather or the economy, for those should never own your state of focused, intentional commitment to living your life large and in charge.

Dumb People, Smart Phones

It’s a crappy title, I know. Yet I feel compelled to share it. This is not an IT or telecommunications blog. Rather it’s a communications lesson for anyone in business and all human beings regardless of your age, occupation or experience.

Too many dumb people have smart phones. Having a smart phone doesn’t make you smart. However, using a smart phone, SMARTLY can make you rich. That is, if you know how to use it. I’m not talking E-mail, Facebook, Google, Apps etc. I am talking about calling, getting either appointments and or getting sales through the phone. We incorrectly deem calling a telemarketing or telesales function. That mind set, is sure to keep you poor.

Since the printing press, perhaps the greatest tool ever created by Alexander Graham Bell, used to communicate is the telephone. Used exclusively to communicate with an exclusive outcome in mind. If you are in business you have just one outcome in mind. Sadly, neither school, nor university teaches or trains you how to use the telephone, yet it is a heartbeat away from untold riches. Perhaps that’s why you are kept out on the dirty little secret. Only the rich, savvy professionals making the top dollars, know how to use the phone and they have been trained, mentored and practiced making it second nature.

Everywhere I go, business owners complain of a lack of business. Whether in real estate, financial services, dry cleaners and even florists are complaining its quiet. When I ask, how many calls are you making to prospective customers, they look at me as if I am from Mars. I hear a hundred excuses for their failure but never any good reasons. Fore mostly most people are afraid of the phone because they suffer fear! They fear rejection. Others, fear people themselves. Some, fear the phone itself. Yet they may have many phones for entertainment but never for wealth creation.
